FAQ For This Wiki

Here are a few questions and answers to get the most from your experience in this space.  If you have a question, please email it to me and I'll be happy to answer it and add it to this list.

I created my list, but I don't see it in the SideBar.  Why?

I'm so happy you've created your list!  I (Stephanie the administrator) have to manually add your list to the SideBar.  I do this to ensure we keep spammers out and keep a level of consistency with the titles of list items so it's easy to find your list and scan the lists of others.  I receive email updates when you update your list, so I typically add new lists to the SideBar several times each week.  If it's been more than a week since you've created your list and you still don't see it in the SideBar, email me.

You can always access your list by going to the bottom of the home page and clicking on "Show all pages" under the "Wiki Information" column.  This will display a series of pages including all life lists in the wiki.  Navigate through the alphabetic list and click on the title of your page to view your list.

What if I accidentally delete my list?  Can I get it back?

Fret not.  You can restore your life list page to the last saved version.  To restore your page, follow these steps:

  1. At the bottom of the home page, below the "Wiki Information" column, click on "Show all pages".
  2. Navigate through the series of pages to find your list.  The list is in alphabetic order according to the title of your page.
  3. Once you have found your list, click on the "(x number) revisions" link for your list under the "Revisions" column.
  4. Click on the most recent revision in your list - the one you want to display.
  5. Once your list displays, click on the "Revert 'name of your page' to this revision" button.

How can I make it easy to find my list?

It's best if you include your name (real or faux) in the title of your life list page.  If you name it something like "My List" - this makes it difficult to differentiate your list from other lists.  I'll need a way to identify your list from others when I add your list to the SideBar.

How can I help a cool person cross items off their list?

I'm glad you asked.  If you see an item on a cool person's life list and you have an idea or tip on how to help her/him (or you simply want to say something nice and encouraging), leave a comment on their list.  To do this, simply click on the "Comments" button at the top of her/his life list page.  Then type your comment in the open field and click the "add comment" button when you are done.

Can I take ideas from other cool people's lists?

Of course!  The best part of having your life list here is that you can inspire and be inspired by cool people like you.  By all means, leave a comment on the cool person's list to let them know that you loved and item/items in her/his list. To do this, simply click on the "Comments" button at the top of her/his life list page.  Then type your comment in the open field and click the "add comment" button when you are done.
